Sodalite - the mineral kin of lapis lazuli, royal blue veined with white, Named in 1811 for the sodium in its lattice - chemistry before charm.

The kinship is real: lazurite, the mineral that makes lapis blue, belongs to the sodalite group. Sodalite is the deeper, quieter sibling - navy rather than ultramarine, calcite cloud rather than pyrite stars - and the choice between the two is character, not rank.

After the royal tour of 1901, Ontario sodalite was shipped to London to line rooms at Marlborough House; the trade still calls such material Princess Blue. Softer than the quartzes at Mohs 5.5–6: wipe it dry, spare it knocks. Under ultraviolet light, many beads answer with a faint orange glow - the lattice showing its chemistry.

Trusted by reputable hotels & wellness spaces.

Interior of the Maison Éthérique store: shelves of minerals along the walls and visitors at a long wooden table.

A contemporary house of ancient materials

Maison Éthérique brings together incense, aromatic resins, botanical bundles, crystals and the objects used with them. From our house in Dubai, we explore their aromas, stories and traditions - a collection for personal rituals, familiar favourites and gifts with meaning.

For the meaning it holds

A familiar aroma can become part of a daily ritual. A stone can be kept as a symbol of protection; a botanical chosen for a practice of purification. Across the collection, scent, beauty and personal meaning offer different reasons to choose.
