Maison Éthérique
A contemporary house of ancient materials
Frankincense burned in Dhofar before the word 'wellness' existed. Palo Santo carried smoke through Andean ceremony centuries before any laboratory studied the olfactory pathway. Myrrh moved along trade routes that predate every modern institution we consider authoritative.
These materials were not used because people lacked alternatives. They were used because they worked.
And deep beneath the surface, in ancient seabeds and volcanic cavities, minerals were forming - selenite, amethyst, obsidian - on timescales that make human history look like a footnote.
This is what we work with.
The House
Maison Éthérique is a contemporary house of ancient materials - resins, incense, botanicals, and geological minerals sourced with precision, presented with intention, and grounded in the oldest form of environmental science there is.
We work with conditions - the sensory state of a space, and through the space, the quality of attention available to the person inside it. Aromatic resins change the air. Geological minerals change the energy of a space. Incense marks the threshold between one part of the day and the next. Each material does something specific, and each has been doing it for longer than we have been keeping records.
Every material we carry has documentation behind it - a botanical or geological name, a region of origin, a harvest or formation context. We tell you what it is, where it comes from, and what the human relationship with that material has looked like across time.
The materials do not require belief. They require attention.
Where We Are
Alserkal Avenue is a former industrial compound in Al Quoz, Dubai, transformed into one of the region's most active cultural districts - home to over a hundred galleries, studios, makers, and independent houses. Our neighbours include coffee roasters, chocolatiers, art foundations, and makers who take their raw materials as seriously as we take ours. Over two million people walk through the Avenue each year.
Nothing is behind glass. Come with questions.
Whether you come to us through curiosity, through tradition, through a desire to understand what you are burning or holding - or whether you are sourcing materials for a hotel, a spa, or a studio — you are welcome here.
