Palo Santo 5 Sticks Bundle (Bursera Graveolens) Peru

The five sticks in this pack are cut from naturally aged Peruvian wood - trees that died on the forest floor and were left to mature for three to four years before harvest. The aromatic chemistry develops only during this post-mortem aging; cutting living trees produces no usable resin saturation. The sticks are selected for consistent grain and aroma; the surface should read pale tan with darker amber veins where the resin concentrates.

1. Hold one end of the stick to a flame for 30–60 seconds until the tip catches.
2. Blow the flame out - the stick smoulders rather than burns.
3. Hold the stick or place it in a heat-safe dish; let the aromatic smoke move through the room.
4. The stick will self-extinguish within a few minutes. Relight as needed.
5. Each stick can typically be reused 5–10 times before the aromatic compounds deplete.

Unlike incense sticks, palo santo doesn't burn to ash - it smoulders and stops. Don't expect a continuous burn; the natural pattern is short releases across many sessions.

Palo Santo's self-extinguishing burn is one of the unusual physical traits in the catalogue - the wood smoulders without sustaining combustion, releases its aromatic compounds in short pulses, and stops on its own when the local resin concentration drops below the threshold to continue. The same stick reignited at a different point produces a fresh burn from the unburned interior. The pattern is opposite to incense, which is engineered to burn continuously: palo santo wants to stop.
