A different sandalwood entirely - Pterocarpus santalinus, the red sanders tree of southeastern India, botanically unrelated to white sandalwood and carrying a drier, more leather-and-bark profile on the burn.

Red Sandalwood is the other "sandalwood" - Pterocarpus santalinus, a different species and a different botanical family from Santalum album. Drier, woodier, more leather-and-bark than the creamy register of white sandalwood. The shared name is a translation tradition that predates botany.

On the stick, the burn opens with old leather and aged wood, settling into a quieter, drier register without the honeyed warmth of Santalum album. A different sandalwood entirely; an entirely different aromatic experience.

For the customer who wants the drier register that the white grades cannot produce. Sourced from authorised plantations in Andhra Pradesh.
