Palo Santo Burner - Water

Same Chulucanas ceramic tradition as the Air and Fire variants - a pottery lineage from the Piura region of northern Peru descending from the Vicús and Tallán pre-Columbian cultures and protected under Peru's Denominación de Origen designation since 2006. The Water variant carries its own surface pattern within the elemental series; each piece is handcrafted using the traditional two-stage firing with mango-leaf negative resist.

For sticks:

1. Hold the palo santo stick to a flame until the tip catches.
2. Blow the flame out - the stick smoulders.
3. Lay the stick across the dish with the smouldering tip clear of the base.
4. The stick will self-extinguish - relight as needed.

For cones:

1. Place the cone upright on the dish surface.
2. Light the tip and blow the flame out.
3. The cone smoulders from the tip downward through to its base.

Wipe with a soft, dry cloth after use. Avoid prolonged moisture exposure. Always place on a heat-safe surface.

The complete Chulucanas elemental burner set - Air, Fire, Water - is designed as a coordinated trio sharing material, function, and dimensions, with three distinct surface patterns separating them within the series. Customers may collect individual pieces or assemble the complete set. The Chulucanas two-stage firing technique itself relies on a sequence of exposures: an initial oxidising firing, then a smoke-firing with mango leaves pressed against the surface, with controlled cooling between stages. Each phase has its role in producing the dark-and-light contrast unique to this lineage.
