Jasminum grandiflorum is one of two jasmine species used commercially for aromatic extraction, alongside J. sambac. India, Egypt, France, and Morocco are the principal producing regions; the supplier confirms Indian origin for this oil.

Most jasmine on the market reaches it as an absolute - solvent-extracted with hexane or similar, then alcohol-washed to produce the deep, indolic aromatic that classical perfumery has built rose-and-jasmine compositions on for centuries. Steam distillation is an unusual extraction for jasmine because the heat damages the heavier aromatic compounds, particularly indole, which gives traditional jasmine absolute its characteristic animal-musk depth beneath the sweetness. Steam-distilled jasmine captures the lighter volatile fraction efficiently - the sweet-floral opening reads cleanly - but produces a different aromatic register than the absolute: lighter, more immediately floral, with less of the indolic depth characteristic of solvent-extracted jasmine. The supplier's earthy-undertone description suggests some indolic character is preserved in this particular oil.

1. Diffuser: 1–2 drops in an ultrasonic diffuser water reservoir. Jasmine reads concentrated even at low dose.
2. Topical (diluted): 1–2 drops in 10 ml of carrier oil (jojoba or almond per supplier guidance) for application to pulse points.
3. Perfumery blending: jasmine pairs classically with rose, sandalwood, and bergamot - the rose-jasmine-sandalwood combination is one of the foundational perfumery accords.
4. Mist: 1–2 drops mixed with water in a spray bottle; shake well before each use to redistribute the oil through the water.
5. Never apply undiluted to skin. Jasmine can cause sensitisation at higher concentrations.

Store in a cool, dark place with the cap tightly sealed. The lighter volatile fraction captured by steam distillation oxidises faster than absolutes — use within 12 months of opening for best aromatic character.
