Dorjee Stupa Incense - 15 Sticks Tube

The two named materials. The Dorjee blend is built around two specific Himalayan aromatic materials. Saang is the Nepali common name for Himalayan juniper - typically Juniperus recurva (drooping juniper) or J. squamata (flaky juniper) - the evergreen conifer that grows across the high Himalayan ridges from Bhutan through Nepal and into the western Himalayan range. The wood and leaves are highly aromatic, with a sharper, more terpene-forward register than Cedrus deodara. Saldhoop is the sal-tree resin (Shorea robusta, family Dipterocarpaceae), a hardwood resin from the sal tree of South Asia and the Himalayan foothills; the resin is heavy, balsamic, and slightly smoky - used historically across the subcontinent as a binder material in incense and as a stand-alone aromatic on charcoal.

The form. Bamboo-less sticks, hand-rolled in the Kathmandu Valley by the Stupa workshop. The two named materials are ground together with a natural binder and rolled into the stick form. No bamboo core, no synthetic fragrance, no chemical binder.

Character on the burn. Opens with the saang's bright juniper-evergreen — sharper and more resinous than cedar, with a forest-floor character. The middle minutes carry the saldhoop's heavier balsamic-resin register coming through. The close is warm, slightly smoky, with the sal resin's character holding the room. Earthier and more terpene-forward than either the sandalwood or floral blends in the wider Stupa range.

1. Take a stick from the tube.
2. Hold the tip to a flame for 5–10 seconds until it catches.
3. Blow out the flame - the stick smoulders.
4. Place the stick in the included handcrafted holder on a heat-safe surface.
5. The stick burns for approximately 30 minutes.
6. Allow the holder to cool before handling.

Burn in a well-ventilated room. Store the tube in a cool, dry place. The bamboo-less stick is slightly more fragile than a bamboo-cored stick; handle gently.

The Dorjee blend is distinctive in the wider Stupa range for using two of the most regionally specific Himalayan aromatic materials - both the Saang juniper and the Saldhoop sal resin are characteristic of the South Asian subcontinent and the Himalayan range in particular. Sal-tree resin in particular has a long history in the regional incense tradition; the sal tree is one of the most important hardwood species across India and Nepal, and its resin has been gathered and burned across the subcontinent for thousands of years. The combination of high-altitude juniper with lowland sal resin gives the Dorjee blend a vertical range across the Himalayan landscape - the high evergreens at the top of the burn, the lowland resin holding the close. Notable also that this product carries a Tibetan name ("Dorjee" means vajra - thunderbolt, a contemplative-tradition object) but is positioned as a Stupa workshop blend rather than as part of the supplier's separate "Tibetan-tradition" line (products 14-16); the editorial treatment here is to disclose the name etymology factually without leaning on its devotional context.
