Austa Suganda - the transliterated Sanskrit aṣṭa sugandha, literally "eight fragrances." The Kathmandu workshop's classical herbal blend wrapped into the Lokta-paper rope format. Three named anchor materials: valerian (likely Valeriana jatamansi, the Indian valerian), liquorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra), and bagchi (Psoralea corylifolia, the traditional South Asian medicinal plant).

Opens with warm-pungent bagchi; middle carries valerian's earthy-musky depth layered with liquorice's sweet-resinous lift; closes layered, slightly bitter, slightly sweet, longer-tail than the woody or resin-led ropes.

The most compositionally complex rope in the cluster. The three named anchors represent a distinctly Himalayan and South Asian botanical profile.

Interior of the Maison Éthérique store: shelves of minerals along the walls and visitors at a long wooden table.

A contemporary house of ancient materials

Maison Éthérique brings together incense, aromatic resins, botanical bundles, crystals and the objects used with them. From our house in Dubai, we explore their aromas, stories and traditions - a collection for personal rituals, familiar favourites and gifts with meaning.

For the meaning it holds

A familiar aroma can become part of a daily ritual. A stone can be kept as a symbol of protection; a botanical chosen for a practice of purification. Across the collection, scent, beauty and personal meaning offer different reasons to choose.
